Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is a class that covers many different topics and subjects that all relate to the news media. I feel like with today's society and how much technology has become an important part of our lives, this class can help view how news is portrayed in social media and how you are able to use social media and the news for your advantage as a journalist.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was being able to view current real life examples of news stories in class, as well as watching case studies regarding violations by journalist.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you attend class everyday and you are on time. You do not want to miss vital information and your professor will take off points if you are late. Another important piece of advice I would give is make sure you read the assigned pages in your text book your teacher gives you before each test. The test will be directly from those pages and if you do not read you will not pass.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I was not sure what to expect going into to a course regarding ethics in journalism. However, I was pleasantly surprised! This course is an applied study of ethics and will be a very useful to for anyone -- not just journalists!

    Course highlights:

This course shines a light on our constitutional right of free speech, but allows you opportunity to analyze where the line of right and wrong lies from many different perspectives.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are considering taking COMM 409 and you are also going to be taking a philosophy course, I highly recommend taking your philosophy course first. The reason is that you will find that your background in philosophy will really benefit your studies in applied ethics.
