Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Dempster is an excellent professor and tries to make the work as easy as possible but still enough to challenge the student. He is willing to work with his students and even provides an afternoon tutoring session.

    Course highlights:

I thought I knew a lot about music but it was amazing to see how much I actually didn't know. My favorite thing was learning the different chords. Like augmented and diminished triads. I now know my favorite chord is a major seventh chord. It just sounds so nice when played on a piano.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

For aspiring music educators and performers I'd highly recommend taking this course. It helps so so much with understanding the basis of classical music and how it has evolved into today's more modern music. It gives you a sense of how to create your own music and how ideas have developed over time. This course also gives you basic, general information on some of the simplest aspects of music as far as "sharps", "flats", scales knowledge and "part-writing".

    Advice for students:

A hunger and love deep enough to learn about the makes, and greats of classical music and how modern music has come to be. Paying attention at all times is very key, myself being an athlete, I missed out on a lot of class and found myself lost multiple times, so keeping up with and really coming to a deep understanding of the assignments is an essential with taking this class.
