This class was tough.
The course is mandatory so you must take it in order to graduate with your PN or you RN. The lectures are long and dry, Ms. Antley is a peach but her humor only makes the class seem longer than it is. The clinical portion is pointless in my opinion because you don't do anything with your skills it is just talking to patients about their feelings and issues while watching everything you say to make sure you're therapeutic. The tests are very difficult and wordy, just know that you never ask a patient why!
I learned a lot about addiction and a lot about the stigma behind mental health and psychological issues. I think that is the highlight of the class, it really opened my eyes to see just how numb the world has become to mental health, we think it is an attention seeking issue when it really isn't.

Advice for students:
Read the book! Focus on the power points! look online for practice psych test questions. The tests are difficult and if you can get the format of the questions down, then you can handle this class. I you want an A or B, be prepared to focus a whole lot of energy into this class, it is a lot of material to cover and you will be touching on it later in other nursing classes.
