Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to anyone. Not only is the material is fascinating and engaging, but the rigor of the class is appropriate. If a student thoroughly understands the material for an exam, they will Ace it, even though the class averages are typical of college level science courses.

    Course highlights:

Through the semester, a sturdy foundation was created involving knowledge of geological, chemical, and physical oceanography. From learning about plate tectonics to wind patterns to deep ocean circulation, the class painted a highly detailed mosaic of the fundamentals of oceanography. The field trip to Huntington Beach State Park was a major highlight. It put all that we learned in lecture to life!

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this class, attending every lecture is an absolute must. For preparation for the exams, know your notes inside and out and skim the chapter in the textbook if you have any remaining sources of confusion.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I grew up fascinated with the ocean and the physics behind it. This introductory course not only taught the fundamentals, but challenged you to learn more. She found a way to teach the lowest knowledge person in the class and the highest knowledge at the same time.

    Course highlights:

My highlight was not the course itself, but the professor. I still meet with her for over an hour every week just to catch up. She not only helped academically, but personally as well. I can talk to her about anything and she really motivated me to work.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Participate in the class. It is not graded, but it really helps connect with the teacher and make the class more interesting.
