Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Cole Cheek is a highly informed professor of histories and anthropology. He uses his wealth of knowledge and humor to teach different aspects of how civilization arose, different forms of agriculture, family orders, marriage and many other aspects of the world that we often do not see do to cultural blindness.

    Course highlights:

I personally enjoyed the study into the cultures of both the Anonymous and the Amazons, looking at how cultural can form in the middle of the rainforest seperated from civilization, but yet can be birthed in the middle of urban culture. People groups can be brought together because of interests, survival, or disapproval of different grouops.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

As the class builds, and the deadline for the research paper approaches, I would recommend putting in the hours at either the county or the school library and starting to gather the research and collecting thoughts of the papers focus and order. The Pascal system of retrieval (this system allows students to request books from other colleges and universities; super easy to use and they arrive in decent time and stay for a month) and the office hours of the professor are two huge resources I implore any student to draw on.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The textbook was thourough yet easy to work with and comprehend, the information interesting and attention grabbing. The instructor was engaging and used several different forms of instruction and made the class enjoyable. I would recommend any of the classes that he teaches.

    Course highlights:

Highlights were observing how the gathering of food was a huge trigger for communities and cultural groups to progress or fall behind; transforming from being hunters and nomads, to building permanent dwelling and cultivating crops and livestock allowing for the increase of population and intellegence.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Spend the time to read and understand the material, many of the quesitons come from the text and reading along with taking notes in class gives a rounded understanding and knowledge to the course. Also being present in class both physically and mentally allows for quesitons to be asked and answers to others heard increasing the learning potential.
