Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The most important course for Biology and related major which focused on metabolism, respiration, photosynthesis, and other animals and plants portion with lab. The interesting thing the instructor Mandy Orth gives her best knowledge with great lab procedures and also the book. I recommend you have to know who teaches this course, please take with Mandy.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot and which includes Metabolism, respiration, photosynthesis, ATP production, part of plants structure and function, ecosystem, and on each chapter how organism developed from originals, Evolution

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I read the notes first before lecture and the book ( interesting part of the course) before the exam. then review notes and practice chapter end questions and use flash card

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Yajun Wu was one of the worst teachers I could have asked for in my first college semester. He did not teach the class properly, as he flew right through all of the material. If it is available to you, take the Honors version of biology! It is more work, but you will definitely retain more information.

    Course highlights:

Despite having Dr. Wu, I did learn a lot from this course. It covers a wide variety of topics, the keys being macromolecules, mitosis and meiosis, and evolution. It was a great course, that was unfortunately taught very poorly.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you have Dr. Wu, I would very much recommend attending the Supplemental Instruction that South Dakota State provides to its students. Another great thing that SD State offers is free tutoring at the Wintrode Success Center. By putting these two things into your schedule, you will pass this class!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Wu teaches you in ways that not many other teachers do. Some teachers give you the answers to everything you will need on exams, but the way Wu teaches, you need to listen for verbal clues as to what you need to know for the exam. He pushes you to find the meaning behind what he is teaching.

    Course highlights:

Highlights of this course included Dr. Wu's personality and how he didn't let student's get in his way of doing his job.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Listen closely to what the lecture contains. Focus on the slides he goes over and not so much over slides he skips. He is teaching you the things you should know for the test.
