Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

As a music business major, this is the cornerstone of the entire premise of one's major. Copyright law is the backbone of the music business. Dr. Ouellette emphasizes this and pushes to have students understand complex situations of copyright law that can and will come up if one works with it.

    Course highlights:

This course specifically taught me the intricacies of copyright infringement, the defenses to it, and the remedies that can be taken against infringing parties. While not the most enjoyable experiences, the essays written on exams pushed me to analyze situations dealing with these cases of copyright infringement and the like.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You have to know the six exclusive rights of a copyright owner. If that is not ingrained in you, it should be by the time you get through this course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Beckett, while he was an adjunct, made copyright law easy. He was direct and fun to be around. He inspired me to pursue intellectual property law.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were 1) meeting some of my best friends and 2) the teacher - Beckett was really cool, and he had a lot of experience with copyright law.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I had a lot of friends who didn't read the book, and they all passed the course with no problem. However, reading the book + going to class every day really made me love copyright law. If you want a thorough education in copyright law (instead of just getting through it), read the book.
