    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The experience in the lab was very hands on and pushed you to own the procedures.

    Course highlights:

Lab was the highlight. The course provided a lot of opportunity to learn to view microorganisms through a microscope and grow cultures.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Study hard and study ahead. You need to have at least a vague understanding of the material before it is covered in class.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course because it will broaden one's knowledge of the microscopic world around them. The knowledge gained from this course helps one to be more health conscious as well as to begin thinking outside the box for ways to cure diseases or help prevent disease. Even someone who is not entering a health science field of study would become a more well-rounded individual from taking this course by gaining knowledge of how diseases begin and how they are spread as well as what soecific bacteria causes certain infections (ex. Staphylococcus Areus causes acne!)

    Course highlights:

This course gives good lab experience that is fun and interactive. I learned more about working with people as my lab partners and I performed tests on bacteria that we grew ourselves. This course is especially helpful for anyone going into health sciences as it introduces medical and lab terminology that is used through the course. by taking BIOL 2230, I gained good hands on experience with a microscope, Bunsen Burner, and many other lab utensils. I also learned how to identify unknown bacteria by performing tests and using deductive reasoning.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this course, one has to be disciplined. Be sure to read all of the material at least once, but it is better to read it two or three times before lecture so that you have ample time and opportunity to process all of the information. To study, it helps to have study partners, make A LOT of notecards, and study the information covered after every class period. Never be afraid to stay after class to ask the professor to take time to explain a concept, even if it takes some extra time.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to anyone because the teacher is amazing!

    Course highlights:

Germs were the highlight of this course. I learned that not all germs are bad. Most germs help your body become immune to bad things.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you come to class ready to listen, then you'll have no problem in this class. It was a great class!
