    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Great introduction to Computer Science. Course provides the fundamental basis required to learn any programming language

    Course highlights:

Learned Java, fundamental object-oriented programming, efficiency analysis, basic algorithms and data structures.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Keep up with the coursework and you will be fine. All the material stacks upon itself, so if you fall behind, you will get lost.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Obviously if you're a comp sci major, take this class. But if you have no prior programming experience, make sure CS111 isn't the first class you take because its only for those people that have been coding since they were 10.

    Course highlights:

I learned nothing. The highlight of this course was the first day when I thought this class was going to be easy. After that, it all went down hill.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Have prior experience in coding. Take the lower level classes in comp sci first. Just because this says its an intro class doesn't mean its as easy as one. In order to do well and actually understand anything, you MUST have experience in java or any other programming language to actually get anything out of this course besides learning how to not fail it.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Class was great, but the professor is hard to understand. If you want something less dry do not take this professor. While he may know his stuff, he can't communicate it well.

    Course highlights:

You learn some Java, and the basic ideas in many programs (Arrays, methods, Classes, Object, etc.)

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention in lecture, and know WHY you would code a task in this method.
