    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Great introduction to Computer Science. Course provides the fundamental basis required to learn any programming language

    Course highlights:

Learned Java, fundamental object-oriented programming, efficiency analysis, basic algorithms and data structures.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Keep up with the coursework and you will be fine. All the material stacks upon itself, so if you fall behind, you will get lost.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Obviously if you're a comp sci major, take this class. But if you have no prior programming experience, make sure CS111 isn't the first class you take because its only for those people that have been coding since they were 10.

    Course highlights:

I learned nothing. The highlight of this course was the first day when I thought this class was going to be easy. After that, it all went down hill.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Have prior experience in coding. Take the lower level classes in comp sci first. Just because this says its an intro class doesn't mean its as easy as one. In order to do well and actually understand anything, you MUST have experience in java or any other programming language to actually get anything out of this course besides learning how to not fail it.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

It is a required course for any computer science majors, so if that is your major of course you must take this class. Professor Steinberg was a nice guy and tried his best, but honestly it was very hard to understand him due to his condition. Most of the material I already knew or learned on my own because the lectures were often difficult to understand. His powerpoints were okay but still the most useful resources I found were online.

    Course highlights:

I learned a bit about Big O algorithm analysis and some basic searching/sorting algorithms.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

If you have no prior programming experience the course may be a bit of a challenge. But, if you go to class, take notes, watch youtube videos/look online then you should be set.
