    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Niel is an amazing instructor of Organic chemistry. He is really good at presenting information in a way that is understandable to everyone. He even uses molecular models in lecture to demonstrate what's going on.

    Course highlights:

Have a great basis for my Biochem degree because I learned about all the functional groups of organic molecules and how they react with hoards of different compounds. The course really efficiently laid out the patterns for how organic compounds will act in a given situation.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to Dr. Niels study hours, they are super helpful. Also stay on top of your homework and study your notes for an hour after EVERY lecture. Also getting supplementary workbooks can work wonders for your exam grades.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Neal is a all- round lecturer! organic chemistry is difficult material and kind of like a new language to learn and understand. organic chemistry is also cumulative course meaning that you are just building upon everything you have previously studied and so you need to know your basics well. that is why Dr. Neal was a very good professor for chem 350 because his grading system allowed you to focus on the material rather than your grade. For Chem 350, you need to understand partial charges and acidity and basicity before hand. You would also need to have a good eye for seeing objects in 3D and be prepared to go for tutorial sessions if you cant. overall, do not panic for this course because once you understand the basic concept you can do all the problems involved. consider organic chemistry as a new language.

    Course highlights:

This course helped me understand the basics for organic chemistry and helped me understand the various mechanisms for organic reactions. most importantly, I learned that chemistry is all the way specific and so even the slightest change to a reactant or a reaction condition can produce an entirely different and sometimes toxic product.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you plan to be a scientist you really should! it is very informative and helps you understand the chemistry in biological systems. Taking this class helped make my biology classes easier to understand because I knew my chemistry!

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Bartmess is a great teacher but kind of hard to follow, just constant board work and was hard to understand the actual concept without teaching myself the entire chapter.

    Course highlights:

I learned that you must dedicate yourself to some classes just to even pass, i learned the importance of studying and putting school before other things.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Lots of work, lots of book work to understand, class is helpful but hard to keep up with pace.
