    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course, because of the professor and interesting subjects being learned. The professor was a great teacher, and as a class we learned how to better our writing.

    Course highlights:

I enjoyed writing about a graphic novel, Maus. It was hard to write, but Professor Hacker worked alongside of every student in order to make our papers the best they could be.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to write many papers. They are very interesting to write about!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Goulder makes excellent use of the semester by introducing her students to a wide array of writing topics. She prepares the students to write thoroughly, with grammatical perfection. She has an eye for detail like few I have seen. I wish I had that kind of focus from my regular high school teachers.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to write objectively and analyze details. Also, she taught me how to do intensive research and use the notes I create to write a cohesive essay. My class had a required journal for writing practice every Sunday, and I found myself writing better and better with each passing session. Our readings each week introduced us to differing opinions, and we had to write about them through hard logic. I would go as far as to say each day was a highlight.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read. Read. Read. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of reading and analyzing passages. Also, slow down. Sometimes, I wanted to type as quickly as possible to finish the essay, but I left little errors with each assignment. My best advice is simple, though. Listen to professor Goulder, take notes, and review them. Then, while researching for each essay, use what she taught in class in each rough draft. Pay attention to the little details; she will appreciate it!
