    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

While you do actually have to come to the lectures and take good notes, it is a fantastic class and a great entry point into further study of history. Dr. Bates is a fantastic lecturer and is always quite engaging. There's also lots of extra credit opportunities available.

    Course highlights:

I gained a solid base understanding of western civilization up to the reformation.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Always do the extra credit. Literally all you have to do is show up and sign a piece of paper saying that you went, no essay required.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Lindley is a fair teacher and clearly communicates the material and test contents so it is possible to do very well on his tests if you have an aptitude for memorization (which is more you can say for other History professors). However, his lectures are not enjoyable, partly because of the dry subject matter, partly because of his rabbit trails on obscure documentaries and sports stats that you don't care about, and partly because he is disrespectful to women and minorities. But hey, I got an A. So do with that information what you will, Godspeed.

    Course highlights:

I gained my first negative opinion of a teacher at Union. I got an A... but at what cost? I learned that Lindley has an obsession with Star Trek, obscure documentaries, and heavy metal. There was also something about Ancient Rome, but it's all obscured by his frequent rabbit trails critiquing Hollywood movies about gladiators...

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You'll need the book, unless you can find someone who's already defined the book terms on Quizlet. Which lucky for you, I have: https://quizlet.com/christen_barber4/folders/his-101-lindley Quizlet is a must!!! Memorize these terms and you're golden. DO NOT LET HIM KNOW YOU'RE FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM! Unless you want him to talk to you about it every class period...EVERY. CLASS. PERIOD.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is a course that has to be taken.

    Course highlights:

Honestly, I dislike history and did not learn much at all. The course is very difficult.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study very hard! Record the teacher then study notes over and over.
