    | Would recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it helps you develop critical thinking skills. It also helps you learn how to better format essays.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of the course was the broad scope of things we covered. It was a history course that was more about how to think critically than it was about history.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to choose a narrow topic for your essay because it will make it a lot easier for you.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is required for all history majors and minors. Thee are two professors that teach this course on alternating semesters. I cannot speak on the other professor but Dr. Thomas is very hard to please. The entire first 1/3 of the course was more philosophical than historical. I am not a very abstract thinker so it has been difficult for me. It is also a lot of writing, honestly more than necessary. We had to write a paper on a book that is about how to write a paper. Also, Dr. Thomas is a very picky grader. On my exam I just got back, I did not get any of the questions wrong, but I did not word my answers correctly so I ended up with a 'B.'

    Course highlights:

I have learned that sometimes you have to bite the bullet and please the professor, even if it does not make sense. One thing I have learned on the educational side is a better way to do research. The textbook we used breaks down research in a very clear way.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would suggest not taking Dr. Thomas unless you are very good at abstract thinking. When writing your papers, pull from personal experience and always be VERY precise about what you mean. Dr. Thomas takes things very literally. Also, NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use the phrase, "history repeats itself."
