    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is a very confusing course. It is described as a debate class, however students are expected to create their own debate topics every in the class discussion, and the discussion is half the grade. The debate topics are based on three topics presented in the lecture and where they fit into a Vin Diagram, called the Lens Triad, but they are then associated with a specific question, usually about a piece of art, asked for the discussion. As I said, very confusing. Also, it was never specified that students were expected to create their own debate topic. It took me four days to figure this out the first week, and I was still the first student to post to the discussion. I debated in high school and college, and I found it very difficult to form debate topics following the stipulated guidelines.

    Course highlights:

I was introduced to many excellent artists and pieces of art, as well as some great plays. The lectures were very informative and interesting.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

If you are not required to take this course, research it carefully and see if anything has changed. Hopefully it has, because the material is great, but the format needs a lot of work.
