    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

If you are going in as a pre-med, you will have to take bio lab. This class was helpful in making me realize that I can't get by anymore without really putting in the time to study. Even though this class is only a 1 hour course, it took the most time to study for and I didn't do well in this course because I realized too late however, hopefully you can learn from my mistakes. Bio lab is often referred to a weed-out class, intended to separate the students that are dedicated and hard working, and those that are not. It is highly memorization intensive and so come test day, you will literally have to know everything about the assigned reading as well as the the organisms seen through the microscope.

    Course highlights:

Highlight of this course would probably be the struggle with fellow classmates. I guarantee you that at least 90% of people will have to put in a considerable amount of time for this class but on the exams that you do do well on, the feeling you get is incredibly satisfying. I learned a lot about animal and plant cells but I think one of the purposes of this course is to help develop your memorization skills.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

STUDY STUDY STUDY. Do not wait till the last minute to study for this course because there is just too much information. Unless you have a photographic memory or you are 1% who never has to study for a test, STUDY ANYWAYS!!! Take pictures of the slides during lab and make sure you know everything about them. I know saying study everything is pretty broad, but that is what the exams are about, EVERYTHING. On Friday, they offer an open lab where you can look at the slides some more so take advantage of that too!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is a requirement for bio majors. It is necessary to take it first semester. There are 3 tests with 1 of them being a practical. The tests can be studied for and the course depends on how good your graduate teacher is.

    Course highlights:

We learned the anatomy of the rat. We learned how to apply photosynthesis, cell respiration, and other complex processes in lab situations. The rat lab was a practical so you had to learn how to

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The best thing to do in this course is to read the book before each lab. The information is not too difficult, but it can be a lot when you procrastinate.
