Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course takes a look into all the different forms of mass communication through the years and how they have affected the world. Newspapers, magazines, books, and films are a few things that are covered in this course and you get to learn about the history of them and the impact they all had on society.

    Course highlights:

We watched many interactive videos and the lectures were all very informative. The assignments may have been very lengthly but they all really helped to prepare me for exams and some of them even have a few fun facts about somethings that you may never have learned otherwise. For example, I had no idea that comic books used to be a really big topic of controversy in the mid 1900s.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Complete all assignments and try to make either mental notes or flashcards based on some of the questions. They will most likely reappear on the test.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

A communications major must understand the foundation of the history and culture of Communications in our present culture to be well informed and knowledgable of where Comunnications began and how it has influenced our past and will continue to affect our future.

    Course highlights:

Professor Korpi will thoroughly discuss film and media framed in the context of how technology and the arts have affected the field of Communications in all of its varied facets. You will leave the course with a comprehensive understanding of the history of film, understand how films have shaped our culture, understand the science behind radio and film, and be able to aptly analyze themes within any film. I enjoyed viewing films and then discussing them with my class a lot.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Attend every class! If you do not show up to class you will have missed out on the information the lectures give you, which will impact your test scores drastically. Take notes and give each project your full attention because the teacher will be able to tell if you gave low effort.
