    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because Mr. Bennett is very strict on grammar. He teaches grammar to his junior dual credit students and expects them to know several different rules. This is always confusing, but he is very thorough in grading essays and will mark any errors. Expect frequent discussions because his class at Harker Heights High School incorporates a form of socratic seminars into this course.

    Course highlights:

British Literature is very heavily focused on poetry and I have always been terrible at understanding poetry. Before coming to his class I would look at a poem and not understand a word beyond what is directly said in the text. In other words, I read and still think too figuratively to be able to interpret figuratively. Coming to this class, I have developed a method of understanding poetry through a new historicist method. Very frequent class discussions also have helped with interpreting literary works of any kind. Mr. Bennett has the class speak about their thoughts on a piece and whatever one person does not understand, another will.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

I would say that you have know your grammar very well. He is the most strict teacher that I have had when it comes to grammar. Great grammar and bad grammar can very well be the difference between an A and a C in this course. Eloquence is not the only important aspect of a paper, in this class grammatical correctness is. That is not to say that he will only look at grammar, Mr Bennett looks at how well the argument ties back to the thesis, structure is also a very important element when creating an essay.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was interesting yet very challenging at the same time. I took this course online for 8 weeks but, I wish I would have taken this in the classroom. I normally do good in english however, this professor is very rigid in grading. He gives no room for mistakes and sometimes is very unclear in his way of providing information to the students.

    Course highlights:

I was able to study many literary works from a few eras and was able to learn more about the composer of those poems and stories.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you are completely focused in this class because the professor gives very little room for mistakes.
