Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Chemistry is a big part of our life. It is the center of of all the sciences and addresses every situation with a more easy and analytical sense. A basic understanding of Chemistry helps read and understand simple chemical reactions on our everyday processed foods and more. Again, there are a lot of careers in Chemistry. Even if you do not need a career in Chemistry, knowledge about the course provides the necessary skills for other careers.

    Course highlights:

Mole concept is a big of chemistry and has ever since helped me understand basic chemical equations. I never imagined how a metal could be transformed completely into a non-metal but chemistry made it possible.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Get extra help from Professor if you do not understand a concept. Use online resources and textbooks. Do online assignments, and make sure you participate in class. Chemistry is super fun!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor El-Ashmawy has high expectations for her students. There is a lot of individual coursework but ultimately the class is designed so that each student understands the material through critical reasoning and logical analysis rather than learning concepts by heart and repeating information from the textbook.

    Course highlights:

The professor is very enthusiastic about her subject and is not afraid to show it. So;e people may find that intimidating but I felt like her high expectations were a worthwhile challenge. I developed a newfound interest in chemistry, which had never particularly interested me before. I discovered that notions such as quantum chemistry are not as scary and complex as they sound because everything can be broken down into more simple explanations.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Prepare thoroughly before each class. Read the textbook, practice end of chapter examples and use the online study area to quiz yourself. The professor will not grade you so much on what you know, but rather on how well you can apply what you know to solve practical problems. Learn the course material as if you were prepared to teach it yourself.
