Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This a great course for ECE students or even parents of young children. This course is very informative and opens your eyes to a lot of things that you wouldn't otherwise be aware of when it comes to taking care of little ones.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was when we discussed Piaget and Vygotskys different theories of development because both of them made perfect sense and explained things I should be doing to help my daughter to develop and grow.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the extra credit offered and create study groups before the exams with other students in the class.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Garvey is incredibly intelligent and passionate about the subject.

    Course highlights:

I learned the different stages of development within the the brain at the different psychological and chronological ages and how to apply simple behavior lessons within daily life.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the chapters all the way through so that you do not mistake "common sense" knowledge you think is correct but is actually wrong due to research findings.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This professor is extremely upbeat and dedicated to creating a fun, intriguing learning environment for her students. Not only does she teach the information, but almost all of her assignments and quiz/tests are how to apply the information learned. With any child development course, it was an extraordinary amount of work.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course was defiantly using the children in my life to complete the assigned projects/homework.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My most helpful advice to this class, as well as any class, is to keep up with the reading of the book. It mainly goes in 3 sections: Early childhood, middle childhood and adolescents. If a student gets behind in reading, they may be still trying to learn the middle childhood information for an assignment while the class has moved on to learning about adolescents.
