Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Prof Wolfe is funny and explains complicated concepts really well. He uses sarcasm to explain why certain reactions do not occur. He also uses very helpful animations and pictures in his lectures. Lectures are available online. No homework during summer semester, just some lab assignments and graphs. There is one group lab experiment and presentation.

    Course highlights:

Highlights of this course were the labs. They were really interesting and used cool instruments and visual learning methods. The labs in this course were the first time I really felt like a "scientist." We did chromatography, DNA gel electrophoresis, osmosis, and more. I learned a lot about cell reactions and genetics--very interesting. I would definitely take this course again, if I had to.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Take the class! Read the textbook chapters before every test. Study really hard for the photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and genetics tests. I wish I would have studied harder for the lab practicals, so study a lot for those. I took this class in the summer, so your studying will be more balanced that mine was if you take it in the fall or spring.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Read the book! And do all the homework. This is the key to success in this course. Rick is an awesome instructor.

    Course highlights:

A thorough and comprehensive understanding of basic concepts in biology. Rick also gave us articles to read that applied what we're learning to modern research happening today.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Just read the textbook. To prepare for the final, review homework and past exams, and re-read any chapters in the textbook that you don't remember.
