Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course. Dr. Rouse was a great teach and mentor to me, and was available to help on a regular basis. He always gave you everything you needed to pass the tests and proper warnings on trickier parts of the subject

    Course highlights:

This is an average computer science 1 course that focus on C++, with a little bit of MatLab at the end

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

The best advice I can give, is ask any and all questions you can have. I was a student helper for this course two semesters, and I can say from experience, that it is very hard to help students if you don't know what their having trouble with. Don't feel bad for asking questions, that's what you're paying for. Dr. Rouse won't bit your head off either.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Rouse teaches by example. His notes are easy to follow, and he uses class time to teach programs that are similar to assigned ones. The homework programs took less time as the course went on because I learned the software well. The 'parties' aka quizzes were the hardest part of the course and required dedicated and focused study time to do well.

    Course highlights:

I was able to learn C++ very well, and I feel very confident in my basic knowledge, applications, and ability in C++. Dr. Rouse also took us through MATLAB at the end of the semester. The less structured software was not my favorite thing to work with, but I feel fairly competent in my knowledge of using MATLAB.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Work ahead on the programs, and don't be afraid to reach out of you get stuck. Dr. Rouse was very helpful in directing students on the way to being a successful engineer with the tool of programming. Programs need to be struggled through though, so don't give up and ask for help after only five minutes. Learning CS was a lot about practice and experimentation.
