    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class has very good information and the professor is exceptional.

    Course highlights:

This was a very broad class, nothing was covered too far in depth due to many topics. However, the highlight of this course for me would be the different ways you can test the efficiency of your household cleaning products.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this class, be sure to do all homework assignments and show up to class. The test can be difficult; therefore, studying is a must. The professor holds a study session which helps tremendously.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Ylostalo, first of all, is amazing. He is personable, really cares about his students, and is willing to spend time working with you. Second, the class itself is extremely interesting and fair warning could turn you into the world's largest germophobe.

    Course highlights:

We learned about the different types of microorganisms and the way they can develop and grow. We also learned about their impact on the world around us and effective ways of killing them vs. growing them. We went further into metabolism and learned about different reactions and cycles. In lab we put all these things into practice by growing our own bacteria off things like our cell phones and door nobs. We preformed tests in effectively killing microbes, for example, we tested different cleaning products and discovered why they're allowed to say they kill 99.9% of germs.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study as you go and build off what you're learning; never cram. If you don't understand something, go to Dr. Ylostalo's office hours, because he will help you and it will be extremely beneficial.
