This class was tough.
Course Overview:
I do not have anything against the course itself. If you like math and this is an elective option, go for it, you will enjoy it. But if you are not advanced in math I prefer you to look at another elective if there is a choice.
Course highlights:
The highlights of this course were learning how to calculate real life scenarios like home mortgages. Also I feel like because of this course I can save thousands of dollars because I have learned how to refinance my home.
Hours per week:
9-11 hours
Advice for students:
The most important advice I have to offer is to find a professor that gives a review. Annette Walder is a great teacher, but she does not provide a review for any exam. You have to know how to teach yourself to excel in this course.
This class was tough.
Course Overview:
This class is very challenging and forces you to learn many lessons on your own. Finite math is challenging in itself. This professor assigned several tasks each week and seemed impossible at times, but if you believe in yourself, you can achieve a decent a grade.
Course highlights:
I walked away from this course knowing that if I put my mind to something, I will achieve it. This course was extremely challenging, but I knew I wanted to do well. Lots of time and effort was put into guaranteeing a good grade in this class, and that's exactly what I earned.
Hours per week:
6-8 hours
Advice for students:
I would advise any student considering this course to attend her office hours and make friends in the class. Study / homework groups is what got me through this class.
Pretty easy, overall.
Course Overview:
I am not usually good at math, but the professor was so good at teaching it that I got an A in the class
Course highlights:
Homework during class with small groups, unless not finished you take it home. I learned that working in a group also helps a lot.
Hours per week:
6-8 hours
Advice for students:
Be prepared to have another lecture right after tests, you don't get to leave after tests unless you want to miss the lecture. Days before the test I definitely recommend getting together with your group to go over the review.
