Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Rather than using the book, Dr. Dewey condenses the information into shorter powerpoints that cover the topics from a general perspective. Her exams include memorization and application questions, but are solely from her powerpoints and lectures. Dr. Dewey is also a Biology advisor; this is especially advantageous if you are a Biology major. Dr. Dewey explains concepts in detail and uses online sources such as Khan Academy and Bozeman Science to summarize her lectures on certain concepts.

    Course highlights:

I am currently researching evidence to support the possibility that Alzheimer's is Type 3 Diabetes, and Biology 1720 covers many topics that I am researching. Dr. Dewey finds much interest in my research and is very supportive. She also has knowledge of upper level research courses. This is convenient for me because I am able to discuss my research goals with the same person who I am learning these concepts from.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Many times Dr. Dewey will repeat certain topics throughout multiple chapters. These topics will very likely be on the exam. She tells you which graphics on the powerpoints she wants you to know for the exam, but beyond that exception all material from the powerpoints and lectures will be on the exam. She also does not expect everyone to have completed Biology 1710, and is willing to review concepts from that course when necessary. Do not waste your time with the book; her exams can be conquered with her notes.
