    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The course had an overabundance of valuable information that was reviewed by Dr. Armistead incredibly quickly. He is a brilliant man and definitely has the walk to back up the talk, but he has a tendency to be repetitive and slightly intimidating. In this class, the truly engaged student (and those who aren't Psych/Counseling/Criminal Justice majors) is the favored. Dr. Armistead is very helpful in clarifying meaning, and most everyone can sympathize with those in first-time Armistead courses. He's not as scary as everyone says.

    Course highlights:

While the repetition was mildly annoying from time to time, it helped certain lessons to stick. I feel lightyears more confident in clinical interviews, intake assessments, and my own abilities to retain/recall information. I know that Benzodiazapines are addictive. I know how important appearance is to the initial intake. Dr. Armistead is a wealth of knowledge; you just have to find the knowledge that you need and apply it.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make flashcards! If handwriting things isn't your shtick, search Quizlet.com for the vocabulary words. If you turn in a complete rough draft of your paper, Dr. Armistead will write the rest of what you're missing for you. Literally. Turn in a completed rough draft and save time and stress alike. Don't take notes on everything, but definitely fill out the study guides and show up for the exam reviews (where he literally reads you the exam). Be in class. He'll like you, and you'll learn to deal with him.

    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course for those who are majoring in counseling/psychology degrees. This course opened my mind to mental health in a whole new way. It taught me the differences between mental health illnesses and why they are considered illnesses. The professor was excellent and expressed his thoughts and lectures in a coherent way.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were how the mental health illnesses are diagnosed. Each mental health illness is diagnosed using the DSM-V. I also learned that some mental health illnesses are genetic and can be inherited.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The advice I would give to anyone who is going to take Abnormal Psychology is be ready to read; a lot. This course is almost all composed of reading your text book. Also, be ready to write papers and take exams. Each professor is different, but always ask him or her how the papers and exams will be graded so that you can study appropriately.
