    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to anyone that needs help getting interested in biology. I personally do not care for science classes which makes it hard for met to focus. Mr Johnson does a GREAT job making biology interesting! He really teaches in a way that makes the student understand and learn.

    Course highlights:

Through the course of this class I learned a lot about biology but also college in general. This call taught me how to manage my study time and techniques. This class requires a lot of studying as well as planning ahead. I truly believe that this course helped me become a better student.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advise to students taking this course is to really take advantage of the resources you have. First of all, pay attention in class. Then if you need additional help, see a tutor, meet with classmates, or even contact Mr. Johnson. You can succeed! Where there is a will, there is a way. Also, don't procrastinate.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

The only way you can succeed in this class is to sit down and memorize all the material. There is not any difficult concepts. Just memorize the material.

    Course highlights:

I learned just the basics of biology.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not study, and then expect a good grade in the class. Effort must be put forth.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would not recommend this course to anyone! Rathburn does not use Blackboard, therefore none of his notes or powerpoints are online, so if you miss a day you have to ask your neighbor for the notes. The tests are not like the notes at all and he does not give out a study guide for the tests, making it almost impossible to effectively study to make a high grade. Making an A is not impossible but it seems like being able to make a 100 is. The only thing we do in the course for the whole three months is take 3 tests and that is all, so there is not a lot of room for error or extra credit, so you better study hard and do good the first time.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were basically what I taught myself with the online biology book. Rathburn is a really good guy, but he needs to get up-to-date and start putting his notes online to make it easier for his students to study and follow along with his lectures during class. He could also engage with his students a little more often.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The online biology book is going to be your best friend if you are taking this course. Honestly, I would recommend that you try to take the class with Johnson, Scoggins, or Edwards if possible, I would not like to take another class with Rathburn if it can be avoided. If you do get stuck taking him, read the book and then read it again.
