    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course because I learned things that will be with me for the rest of my life.

    Course highlights:

I learned about how atoms work to make molecules and the different types of bonds there are, how energy works in our cells, about how photosynthesis works, the process of cellular respiration, how to do a punnet square to figure out a certain gene, and how DNA condenses to prepare for replication.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

What helped me tremendously, was twice a week before class, I went to Khan Academy online and watched videos from the site to understand the concepts. I also recorded my lectures and got a huge white board to write down what I learned. This course is not easy but if you are a committed student, you will do well with out a doubt.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend biology 1406. It is a challenging and demanding course but it prepares you for future upper level courses.

    Course highlights:

There is a lot of writing involved but the feedback is very detailed and helpful. I learned how to properly write a science lab report. The professor gave us a lot of liberty, which was an opportunity to learn valuable time management skills.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this class you must really put effort into reading the text book. There is no way around it. As a tip, I advise future students to study the end of chapter reviews. The test questions are similar.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course. It is tough, but it definitely prepares you for your future of tough courses as a science major. However, if you strive for a good grade, you will obtain it, and learn a ton of useful information along the way

    Course highlights:

I feel that the highlight of the course was the required laboratory time. While the lecture topics were interesting, the time spent in the lab really helped solidify the information, and made sense of it.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If Supplemental Instruction is offered for your class, go to it! I truly believe that just by going to those group study sessions, my grade was was significantly better than it would have been if I did not go. The SI leader is a former student and often times has different ways of explaining the challenging topics.
