    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Chemistry is my major, and the course helped my learn so much about the foundations of Chemistry. It trains your mind to become familiar with this new discipline, making it easier for one to take on harder problem sets. It also forces the individual to create productive study habits, and maintain them.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were thermodynamics, and VSPER theory. We learned how atoms behave under different conditions, and how to predict how a system would behave. We also learned how atoms orient themselves in molecules and compounds.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This course requires a lot of practice of the problem sets that are not mandatory. If one is having trouble, there should be no hesitation to ask the professor for help. Chemistry does not come naturally to anyone, so a lot of work needs to be put in to be considered proficient.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is good course to take that goes over basic chemistry and it is usually a prerequisite for students interested in entering medical school, vet school, or who plan on majoring in a scientific field. It provides a lot of information and forces to students to learn how to be independent and to manage their time well.

    Course highlights:

The greatest thing about the course was the amount of information presented to the students. When looking back on the course, it really forced students to learn new techniques to learn the information by themselves. When in class, the teacher would provide information and examples, but it would be up to the student to go home and to study to really understand everything they learned throughout the semester. Because of the difficulty, I think it is very important for students, especially freshman, to take this course so they can get out of the high school mindset and s they can experience what it is like to not have a teacher hold your hand throughout the year. Lab was also very fun because you learn different chemical reactions and how to work with different chemicals.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do as many reviews as you can. Meet with friends to study and to make sure everyone knows the material. Reviewing with friends can make it easier to remember the information. Try not to fall asleep during class no matter how boring the class may seem because everything the teacher says is important so make sure you write everything down no matter what.
