    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is a weed out class! But if you put your mind to it you can do it! Don't be afraid to ask questions but if you don't understand really easily and are able to grasp the concepts easily then expect to spend time practicing and studying.

    Course highlights:

This class was definitely tough but is rewarding in the end because you gain the foundations of programming.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to office hours and get help as soon as you get stuck. There's nothing worse then starring at your computer screen not knowing what to do and time passes by.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Professor is nice and energetic. This is the only class that I never fall asleep. The professor also cares about his students. He remembers tha name of students who always ask questions and go to office hours

    Course highlights:

I learn basic Java knowledge and am able to write simple code. This class covers things like for loop, while loop, array and lots of most fundamental programming knowledge.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Definetely take this course. It's a fairly good intro course. No previous knowledge required as this course will start with the most foundamental knowledge. Also asking questions and going to office hours are recommended!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The professor is phenomenal! He has an enthusiasm for computer science and teaching. He is willing to do what is necessary to see a student succeed. Professor Scott also explains things clearly, often doing in class examples instead of reading right out of the text book.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were creating my own programs from essentially scratch. I came into the class with minor knowledge of java. I learned my prior knowledge through code academy which always had most of the program written. In this class, Scott will give you a basic outline of what your program must do. It is your job then to replicate the program exactly. It's always a satisfying feeling when after numerous failures your program works.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Attend the lectures and office hours! If you get stuck, ask questions! Lastly, just do lots of practice problems outside the class.
