    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The music program at UT Austin is one of the most notable, and most popular in the entire nation. The professors are excellent sources of knowledge for any instrument, and enforce strong practicing habits far anyone on their principle instrument. However, a music performance degree is not for every musician, and should take into consideration the pros and cons of the career choice.

    Course highlights:

One of the most enjoyable and useful sections of the major is the ability to train yourself and push yourself to limits some never though possible. A major like this is for people who want to make themselves stronger, and find a self-satisfaction in the effort they put in to their practice, as well as the excitement of their performance.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Practice. Practice rigorously, and learn from your mistakes to make yourself better. Do not envelope yourself in success, and forget the reason you chose this over music education. You're doing fine, just keep at it and don't give up.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because it goes over all of the basic things you need to know for music theory. It is a mixture of lab and lecture classes.

    Course highlights:

We learn how to read treble, bass, alto, tenor clef. Triads, Seventh chords, Aural training, Solfege, etc

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Always practice for the hearings! They are very important and one of the more difficult aspects of the class.
