Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because of Dr. Cox's excellent lectures and reading materials. He does a great job of clearly explaining the concepts in literature in class and facilitates a student-led discussion. You read everything from poems, to short stories, to novels, and really gain a true understanding of American literature. He encourages questions and student opinions and is open to several different viewpoints about the readings.

    Course highlights:

I learned about different strategies used in poetry and how to write my own poems. I also learned about American history as told through American literature. I learned how American culture influenced authors in their writing. I also learned how testimonies from slaves during the slavery era and throughout the civil rights movement allowed for the true stories to be shared and helped make the case for equal rights.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to go to lecture and takes notes in order to be successful on his tests. He asks the same sort of questions as he does in lectures and he also gives a study guide beforehand you should use to prepare answers with. You need to participate and talk in your weekly discussion section in order to get full credit.
