Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Cordova's class was interesting and challenging in the best way. She pushed us to look beyond the basics of American cultural history, and gave us a lot of freedom in completing our assignments. We were always invited to share our opinions and have respectful debates, even in a class with over a hundred people. Cordova pushed us to explore our privileges and biases, and to consider how they affect our studies of history.

    Course highlights:

We were given really interesting assignments, like creating a mixtape of songs with personal and cultural significance. We also got to listen to music from throughout American history and watch clips of television shows and movies that were culturally significant. We had so many opportunities to compare America's past to America's present, especially in terms of media. The professor also took the time to learn the names of everyone in the first few rows of the giant lecture hall.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The reading will help you. Don't skip it if you can help it. The professor is also the kindest woman in the world, and you should go to her office hours. This is the best history credit you will ever take.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is so interesting in its content. It's not the typical history course because it dives in to American culture deeper than I've ever done in my schooling.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were definitely talking more in depth about the civil rights movement. This has always been a large point of interest for me! Plus, the discography assignment is different and forces you to analyze music in ways you thought you never could. I learned so much more about American music and the meaning behind it all.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Start your papers and discography assignment way earlier than due. And don't fall behind on the readings!
