    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Effort, time, practicing and potentially seeing her everyday. If you are not ready to give these, and don't have a strong grasp of the language, I would say take another class or don't expect an A.

    Course highlights:

Really the most beautiful thing about this course is the tie to the Japanese community. The course is ok, but the real pleasure is the extracurricular activities tied to the class. The Japanese restaurant field trips, the projects that you due with students from Japan. That's the real highlight of this class.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would say are you taking it for fun or for requirement? If fun, there are better Japanese options that will help spare you of the hit you might take on your gpa. If you have to take this course then I recommend planning this course with an easy schedule so you have time for it.

    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Although the Japanese courses at UT have a strict guideline to follow, the teachers truly want you to succeed in learning the language. Professor Hatanaka especially encouraged me to do my best, and I genuinely enjoyed learning Japanese and putting on a play for the class at the end!

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about Japanese grammar. The first two Japanese courses gave us students a good background of vocabulary, and although this intermediate Japanese class introduced new vocab as well, it taught a lot of grammar. My favorite moments in this class include a play we performed for the class, as well as when Professor Hatanaka would have "prize time" where she'd give us a Japanese treat if we got an answer right!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to study. The website provided by UT is incredibly helpful, definitely don't forget it's there!

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Very nice professor that really wants you to learn. I would recommend this course.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were being able to practice speaking Japanese on a daily basis. It was very fun and enjoyable.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

I think to do well you need to do all the homework and try to memorize everything before the quizzes.
