    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is a challenging, yet rewarding course. I do not recommend PHY 315 to someone looking for an easy A, but I do recommend it to someone who really cares to learn the material. You will gain a better understanding of how the universe works, and this course will apply to nearly every other physics course you take afterwards. It's difficult, but it's rewarding.

    Course highlights:

This is the probably the first physics course you will take that involves upper-division mathematics, and I think that because of this, the course is all the more fun! You are not just handed equations and told "it is what it is," you derive the equations, and realize why they differ between specific problems. This course is the next step of learning your problem-solving skills.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you attend every lecture, and if you miss one, to get the notes and an explanation from a peer. It is very important to pay attention to lecture, because that is what is on the homework and tests (plus they're super interesting). Also, a heads up: professor Paban has a thick accent, so if you're not good with deciphering accents quickly, you may want to sit up front and bring a tape recorder so that you can listen to the lecture again to clear anything up.
