Dr. Neff is a pioneer in the field of self compassion and she is highly paid to teach this course throughout the world. At UT you get to take it and learn so much more- such as techniques you can incorporate to be more present, mindful and compassionate to others and most importantly yourself. A course like this, taught by a leading researcher has so many benefits personally and academically and will increase your self-awareness, that I think is priceless!

Be open to try the exercises, especially if they make you uncomfortable- that's a sure sign you're doing it right. Honestly there is no right or wrong way to do this course but be willing to explore your thoughts and ask questions.
