Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Sociology is a subject that every undergraduate should learn about. It is the study of society and people, and sheds light on some of the most fundamental aspects of being human. Ann Swidler is an amazing lecturer who provides her students with tools to understand important issues such as the wealth gap, the race gap, poverty, education, and more.

    Course highlights:

Ann Swidler's expertise is in the study of culture. She emphasizes how cultural differences can lead to different systems and institutions. We learned about different societal norms surrounding parenting, education, healthcare, and more. Swidler makes use of various academic materials to teach the course, including lecture slides, short videos, films, novels, and academic journals.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Attending the discussion sections is very important. The conversations that occured in the smaller groups were always fascinating and informative. Discussing the main ideas of the class and formulating my own original thoughts in these discussion sections vastly improved my weekly homework and major essays.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Amazing regardless of what your major is, full of interesting lectures and not too lengthy reading.

    Course highlights:

The interactive discussion sections were the best part of the course. I learned mainly that we are inherently molded my societal institutions.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Actually do the reading - it might be even more important than attending lecture!
