Not too easy. Not too difficult.
Course Overview:
I recommend this PRO. She is really nice. Although she's Indian, her lecture is clear and easy to understand. She answers all my puzzles and problems with patient and care. And she always encourage us to ask whatever we don't understand. Oh, and she has offer us personal appointment too.
Course highlights:
I think is the understanding part of all the theory so you can practice they freely.
Hours per week:
9-11 hours
Advice for students:
open your mouth and ask questions! and do good review after class. Oh don't forget to do all the exercises after chapter. that's where the quizzes come from. And the GSI is very patient.
This class was tough.
Course Overview:
Not only is it a good foundation for future statistics courses, but it also is a fun class that exercises your brain by connecting multiple topics together.
Course highlights:
I learned how many of the topics in the class were related, especially the strong parallels between discrete and continuous distributions such as how a geometric distribution to a negative binomial distribution is similar to that of an exponential one to a gamma distribution. Also, I enjoyed seeing how just a simple rephrasing of a question can drastically change how you approach the problem.
Hours per week:
6-8 hours
Advice for students:
I would definitely reccomend the course, but do understand that it does take a significant amount of time to study and review and connect all the topics together.
This class was tough.
Course Overview:
I highly recommend this class because it encourages your brain to think creatively. The formulas/concepts can be applied in so many different ways/applications.
Course highlights:
Some skills you will develop alongside probability: combinatoric math, review of calculus, discrete math, game theory-esque thinking.
Hours per week:
12+ hours
Advice for students:
Attend SLC (student learning center). Create own problems. Solve many different type of problems. Do as many mock exams as you can find. Read your notes carefully. Study with others.
