Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Latin 1 was my favorite class. I love learning the language because I now see Latin roots and vocabulary in every modern English text I read. Professor Syed is humorous and charismatic, which is a major bonus. The Professor also has extensive knowledge of Roman/Greek history, so you'll get good stories that go with the sentences and readings.

    Course highlights:

A typical day in Latin 1 begins with copying down the current homework assignment, going over the previous night's homework, doing an exercise where we practice forms and vocabulary, and beginning new material for the next day. The course requires a fair amount of memorization, but it's not impossible. We learned first, second, third, and fourth declension forms; present, imperfect, future, perfect, pluperfect, future perfect, and subjunctive active and passive endings, etc.. Translation was a highlight for me. The textbook and workbook sentences give you an insight on ancient living, which is pretty cool.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Make the flashcards and go over them again and again. Memorization is key. Do your homework. Have fun with the course. Do some outside reading and dig up background knowledge about poets and epics you see in the textbook.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Not only was the class informative, but it was also fun having such a small classroom environment.

    Course highlights:

I learned the etymology of many English words, therefore helping me learn two languages at once!

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Because we meet MTWTh, we have a lot of homework assignments. DO THEM. Nothing helps learning a language than actually using it.
