Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course will present a history of anthropological thought from the mid-19th century to the present, and will draw upon the major subdisciplines of anthropology. It will focus both upon the integration of the anthropological subdisciplines and upon the relationships between these and other disciplines outside anthropology.

    Course highlights:

Saba Mahmood is one of the best professors at Berkeley. Some people don't like her because she moves fast, but I love it. She's a passionate and insightful lecturer who knows A LOT about anthropology. Do the reading! It's what she really cares about. I've taken her for both 169B and 114 and have had a great experience both times. She's rigorous but very friendly and approachable. Just be prepared to put in the work

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do all of your readings and show up to lectures.
