    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

General chemistry is a gateway course to many scientific/ engineering careers. Texas A&M is notorious for its amazing scientific research and top notch engineering programs. In order to succeed in such programs, it is important to build a strong foundation in science, especially chemistry. I would definitely recommend this course to people who are interested in those fields, for it provides knowledge of general chemical concepts and their importance in the higher levels of science.

    Course highlights:

I loved my professor! Certainly a highlight! The way his class was set up required the students to really work for their grades, which is the case in many college courses. Dr. Collins didn't just stress the importance of good work ethic and good academic standing, he also stressed the importance of having fun and not being too hard on ourselves! He dressed up in extravagant costumes every Halloween and lectures in that costume! He says that life/science, no matter how difficult, can always be fun! Even if you have to make fun yourself! I learned that it's ok to be challenged and that it's even more ok to sometimes just sit back and poke fun!

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

You certainly need to pay attention in lectures! General chemistry can be tricky. Listening to the professor is always the first step to success. The next piece of advise, do the homework! Really do it! Meaning, really understand the question and the reasoning for the answer given! That strategy helps on exams, and your overall grade! Talk to the professor! They are not as scary as they seem! Finally, take time to de-stress. Its good for your health and happiness! A happier you is a better you!
