    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it gives a solid foundation of biology for science majors.

    Course highlights:

I learned about aspects of biology that I did not even know existed. I was completely intrigued by the lectures. I found it amazing that professors are so educated in a subject that is so specific, and I was proud of myself for expanded my knowledge and work hard until I felt that I had a unique knowledge of the subject as well. It was an exciting course to take as a science major because it was a peek into the type of material I will be learning throughout my college career.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study after every lectures so that you do not fall behind. Attend any supplemental studying grous that may be provided. I found it helpful to discuss topics that I was struggling to understand with my peers.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

She teaches slowly and makes sure you understand what is going on. Also, doing well in this class makes you look better in a pool of students trying to get into the same major.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was getting good grades after studying all week/night. You need to be dedicated to make the grade you want!

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Work hard and you will see the grade that you want. Also, go to SI sessions (free tutoring sessions put on by the university).

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend taking Biology 111 by Dr. Andrew Tag because he teaches everything about bio with understanding giving pictures and videos to assist with learning the material. Although this course is a mandated requirement for Bachelor of Science majors, taking this course your first semester of your freshman or sophomore year of college is the best time to take it.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the human cell cycle, accumulation of cancer cells, and gene expression. The human cell cycle described to the two types of cell division: mitosis and meiosis. Meiosis is a two- step cell division that involves sex reproduction. For the concept of cancer cells, I learned that an accumulation of cancer cells can create a tumor, and potentially spread to other parts of the human body. Gene expression taught me how to predict dominant genes in offspring and how to classify recessive traits.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I advise students considering this course to ensure that you will have a balanced schedule of easy and "hard" courses for that semester. Biology is a course that requires a minimum of 9 hours of outside studying and time to prepare and study for the one credit lab that's included. Also, try to grasp ahead the instructor's teaching style to better suite your note-taking and comprehension.
