    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it fulfills part of the history requirement of the core curriculum. This course is also not very difficult, as long as you make an effort to take a few notes in class and complete the learnsmart assignments.

    Course highlights:

History from the civil war to present is pretty interesting, and this is coming from someone that in no way likes history. That being said, the professor tries to keep it interesting, though of course the class consists mostly of lecture; how else do you learn history? Each class is only 50 minutes long, so it's not torture to sit through as long as you're engaged.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be sure to take notes because they'll really come in handy when you're trying to study for a test. The great thing about Prof. Hansen is that he provides outlines of his lecture material on his BlackBoard, so be sure to take advantage of that; this will make following along with his lectures especially easy. I personally find it really helpful in history to take notes on the computer, but if this isn't an option or isn't your style, just be sure you don't zone out too much. Hansen's tests do cover material from the book along with his lecture material, which isn't always the same, so you have to ACTIVELY LISTEN.
