    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Kornienko does have a lot of information on his lecture slides that you can go back and study, which is great. However, he doesn't always explain the slides thoroughly and the class moves at a relatively fast pace. If you want to do well in this course, you need to know who your S.I. instructor is and attend every S.I. session that is offered. Also give yourself time every day to work through the homework. Sometimes there are 30 questions and each question may take you 15 minutes to get through.

    Course highlights:

When Kornienko explains the chemical mechanisms, he does give you "fun facts" as he goes so that you remember the reactions. If you remember that this particular reaction happens when you chase vodka down with a pickle (a popular Russian tradition), you'll be more likely to remember the mechanism that goes along with said reaction. This class gives you all the fundamentals of OCHEM, but if you don't do well in this class it's not the end of the world and you can still pass OCHEM 2.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't miss any S.I sessions and do all the worksheets your S.I. gives you. Make time to work on homework every day, don't leave it until the las minute. Definitely don't skip class. Print off the lecture slides because he moves through the class quickly.
