    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The professor is a good instructor

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about oxydation reactions and how they pertain to real life situations

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

make sure you do the homework and study those problems before quizzes and tests

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Although this class was very rigorous and time consuming, it helped me understand chemical reactions and the laws of gravity. McVey worked with us and kept us on track to learn how chemicals react when they are combined, distributed, and collided.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about acids and bases. It was interesting to know what acids are around your daily life and what they can do to you if you are around it too much. Also explained gases and how pressure and temperature are correlated.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Study daily for at least two hours. Do not fall behind because everyday you are learning new information and it is hard to catch up. Stay on top of homework and use repetition to learn formulas and chemical reactions.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Betancourt is a wonderful person and a good teacher, but for me during the course. She taught lectures way too fast, she would do extensive math on problems and wouldn't give the class long enough times to copy the work down. Sometimes she wouldn't finish lectures on time so she would send the class the lecture notes via email with all of the calculation, which did not help. Finally when it came to the final exam the test composed of conceptual problems, but during the semester we only learned how to execute problems not how to think about why certain things happen.

    Course highlights:

I think the highlight from taking the course was being taught how chemicals interact with each other and how every outside component affects chemicals.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Work, work, work! This teacher gives out practice exams for all of her tests they are pretty close to the actual exam. Also she does clicker questions like crazy and at the end of the semester she uses them as extra credit points, and also attend SI sessions. Every help counts.
