Not too easy. Not too difficult.
This class was a very intriguing class. I enjoyed the discussions we had, the papers we wrote (beware, there IS a 10 page paper), and did manage to learn something new each time. However, with the current election going on, the majority of the time that is exactly what we discussed. Therefore, we were quite surprised when there were only 1 or 2 questions covering that topic on our exams. This class is a good class and Professor Parent is a great teacher, I think it would've been more effective though if we would have covered more ground with the book topics rather than the current events.
The highlights of this course for me were the papers we wrote. She set it up very nicely to where we were able to talk about whatever we wanted as long as it was just in the format she liked. These papers actually helped me learn more about myself, my stances, and why I am in the major I'm in.
Hours per week:
Advice for students:
As you can tell by my hour rating I didn't put that much time into this class. Granted, I did pass, but PLEASE put more time into this course than I did. If I would've put in just an extra hour or so in I would've gotten the grade I wanted. Also, don't be afraid to ask her questions after class! She is very willing to discuss ideas, theories, and concepts without you you don't understand or just want to know more of. As long as you come from a respectful place when approaching her, you should be able to get your questions answered. She really does want to see you succeed in her class. Oh and whenever you get the opportunity, ALWAYS do the extra credit!
