    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course because it is a great introduction to the computer science degree. It is also a great wake up call to the student that really wants to follow a computer science degree. This teacher also to achieve a high grade I highly recommend that you seek help from the professor even though it might seem intimidating but go for it and talk to the professor after class. Also do not ever skip class some students in my class chose to do this more than twice and it greatly affected their grade. He does have a little tough accent

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course is the beginning of the course when getting introduced to C++ coding the professor's introduction makes him seem a little strict or punctual but he is not that bad at all he is always willing to answer students questions. The test are difficult if you do not study the codes and learn them by heart.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

The advice I give to a new student about this course and teacher is that this course will be difficult at times he does have a little tough accent so I suggest sitting in the front rows. Also look at the assignment the same day as early as possible so if you have questions you can ask sooner. Do not be afraid to ask questions to your other classmates because their will be people already knowing the course and took it before or have done coding already.

    | Would recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because though it might seem difficult at times the professor is very willing to help if the student really tries to ask questions and request appointments with him.

    Course highlights:

Through this course it taught me to test various amounts of code and the code that you write is your own language and you improve your language through a lot of practice and trail and error.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this course you would need to study the codes and remember the codes by heart. Also this course can be hard at times but to not give up because this course is almost like a weed out course almost made to scare out the students that are not serious about this course. This course should be taken seriously and time and effort should to pass and succeed.

    | Would highly recommend.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Jill Seaman is by far one of the best computer science professors at Texas State. She makes sure you understand what you are doing every step of the way. Her tests were not absurd, and it followed directly what was taught and covered in class. She is very willing to help if you are struggling, and is great at explaining things. You will walk away a better programmer from taking a class with her, or just realize coding was not meant for you.

    Course highlights:

input/output statements. libraries. arrays. functions. for loops while loops do-while loops, if/else statements. 2-D arrays. Basic syntax. Proper coding style. Basics of c++ with some intermediate stuff at the end.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

MOST IMPORTANT THING: If you struggle in this class it is ok, but if you simple are lost completely then maybe Computer Science is not for you, because this is the most basic stuff you will ever learn like cin/cout statements. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Computer programming is only partially about knowing how to write code, and a majority about knowing how to think logically on how you form your code. Just like a math problem there are many ways to solve a single problem, but you must logically decipher how you will code each function to make it easily readable, understandable, fast, and efficient. Do not give up, hang in there.
