    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is a challenging course but you will learn a lot if you keep up.

    Course highlights:

I came in with hardly any knowledge of biology (due to poor high school education), and came out completely understanding major concepts of the cell.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take advantage of materials you have (read the book), previous tests taken to study off of, go to SI classes, go to class.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course for anyone that desires a professional future in sciences. It is well instructed but extremely difficult. My only complaint is the professor, who is also the head of the Biology department at Tech, refuses to hire other professors for this course and he is the only one that teaches it. Bio 1 is only taught in the fall by Dr. Dini and Bio 2 is only taught in the spring, by the same professor. So if you were to obtain a D or F in Bio 1 then you would have to wait an entire year to repeat the course, essentially setting you back a full year in your degree plan, which is ludicrous.

    Course highlights:

If you follow the class attentively and keep up with the readings, then you will come out of the class very knowledgeable and well prepared for upper level biology courses.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

It is undoubtedly one of the hardest classes given at Texas Tech and more than likely will be the hardest class that you are taking that semester. Go into it understanding that it will require all of your focus and it impossible to skate by and expect a passing grade.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is a great learning experience but it requires a lot of work and attention to detail that many have probably have not put in a class before.

    Course highlights:

The amount of information one is able to learn is vast and amazing

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Record the lecture and study your notes on a daily basis
