Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because this professor has taught us very relative information when it comes to Sociology. His tangents, whether they are related to the course (or sometimes not), are very intriguing and humorous. At the end of this semester, he has some family matters to tend to, but still came back and finished the semester with his students. He ended his course with insight that I think will be memorable for a long time. I truly feel lucky to have had him as one of my first semesters at Texas Tech University.

    Course highlights:

This course provided the ugly and pretty sides of humanity -- society, that is. This course taught me how to think about how the gaps between the rich and poor expands, something that never truly came to mind before. This course really woke my sense of self up when it came to who I am in part of a society. Learning how the ins-and-outs work in families, religion, politics, etc., I took a lot out of this course that I didn't think I would have before.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Since his class is strictly graded on exams and random attendance, I'd recommend always going to class. You should also familiarize yourself with how Dr Koch words his exams, because that was the difference between a 75 and a 95 for me. It's also essential to take advantage of the readings that he assigns because there are topics in class that he discusses over that require background knowledge. Those reading assignments can help your exam grades, too.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

It is a fun and easy class in which you will hopefully learn more social awareness and will be able to detect that not everything is black and white in this world since society's problems are mainly a grey area.

    Course highlights:

I learned different social perspectives and how they can be applied to any situation.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Study the first unit! Once you nailed it the rest of the units will be a lot easier.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Though the class was difficult, Dr. Koch structured the class and tests in a way that forced you to think about the answer. I learned a lot more because instead of him giving up multiple choice question tests, they were true/false or asked you to chose between 3 perspectives about a certain scenario.

    Course highlights:

Dr. Koch was so funny and made class so enjoyable.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be ready to use your brain, studying the material alone will not make you succeed.
