Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Crixell is an experienced editor at the Houston Chronicle, and teaches his class with the knowledge he learned from the newspaper and editing industry. He made the class interesting and interactive by bringing in real world examples of grammar and AP Style usage that allowed the class to understand the topics to the fullest potential.

    Course highlights:

I thoroughly enjoyed the editing quizzes that Professor assigned every so often, categorized by each letter of the alphabet. It was like a scavenger hunt throughout the AP Style book to find the correct answers to the questions, and I learned about proper grammar and style along the way.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Buy the AP Style book and use it regularly. Do all the assignments on time and pay attention to what Professor is presenting in class and you will do fine.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It was a very challenging class, but it made me a better writer. There are weekly assignments, and quizzes. Professor Crixell always starts class with a helpful handout of tips that you will use for the assignments he posts. He has two exams, which he lets you use your notes for and they are not timed. Ultimately use all the resources and study his materials. He truly wants his students to be the best!

    Course highlights:

He went over all the assignments, quizzes and tests. He explained what went wrong or how to make it better. He also gives lots of extra credit to help boost your grades. By the end of the class you feel like an editing pro.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Use all the materials he provides on blackboard. Make sure you go to class and listen to him explain the correct answers for the assignments, quizzes and tests. Never miss an assignment and take out enough time to fully concentrate on it.
