Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The professors for the chemistry department all genuinely enjoy the subject and want their students to succeed. As this is an intro course, there are a plethora of resources available for students to learn from.

    Course highlights:

You learn the basics of chemistry which are then used in all upper level sciences. While organic chemistry uses the most basic aspects of this course, classes like biochemistry heavily rely on your knowledge of this course.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Keep up with the coursework. This is an easy course to make a good grade in as long as you put in the work. Try to do some practice every week, rather than cramming before the exam because that tended to make the most difference in grades.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Sra is a funny, caring professor. She cares about her students' success, and although she may go through the material fast, she makes sure she gives examples to help the students understand. The tests require a lot of studying, but if you just study the concepts, and then do the old tests and practice problems she gives, then it is not hard to do well on. Overall, she is the best professor I have had so far.

    Course highlights:

My major is Biochemistry, so chemistry is a very important class for me to do well in. While it may not be super easy, the material was well organized and well taught. I feel like I am well prepared for my next course in chemistry. One specific highlight is when Dr. Sra demonstrated liquid nitrogen to the class. While teaching us important information, she also created a fun environment. In this demonstration, Dr. Sra had a jug full of liquid nitrogen and used it to deflate a balloon temporarily and to make a magnet float. From this course, I developed strong study habits.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this course, you have to be willing to study a decent amount for each test. It also requires you to spend a decent amount of time doing online homework. This is not a class I would recommend skipping. Five percent of the grade is attendance based off random in class assignments (they are only completion grades). If you study, do your homework, and attend class then doing well should be easy. All the material you need to do well is available to you through her class website and in class.
